Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT DO I BRING TO CAMP?

Being All-Inclusive we provide EVERYTHING except medicine.

We provide 5 small milk-bones a day, a raised bed, a comfy blanket, bowls, dry food and/or wet food.  We feed exactly how you feed at home, per your specifications.

You are welcome to bring:

1. Needed Medication.

2. Up to 3 favorite toys.

3. A favorite machine washable blanket or bed.

4. If you bring your food, bag per meal with pets name on it (i.e. feed morning and dinner you use 2 baggies).  Wet cans should have pets name on outside of can.

AM I ALLOWED TO DROP OFF OR PICK UP AT CAMP ANYTIME?

We make appointment times for reservations.  We are open 7 days a week 2 times a day for pick ups and drop offs.  Morning slot 7:30am - 9:00am and the evening slot 4:30pm - 6:00pm. When you make your appointment we ask you a drop off and pick up time.  These times are appointment times and we will meet you at the front desk at this assigned time. If you will be late please give us a call. If you are outside of these hours it will be a $90 charge added to your bill.

WHAT IF MY DOG DOES NOT PLAY WELL WITH OTHERS?

No Problem!  We have 5 play yards and we can have them just play with us at Camp.  This is more common than you think.

CAN MY FRIEND PICK UP MY PET INSTEAD OF ME?

Yes! When you drop off we will need your friends name and phone number.  This information will be written on the contact that you sign when you drop off.  We will also need to know how payment will be made - cash, check or credit card.  The payment information will be put on the contact for pick up.

DO I NEED AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE A TOUR OF CAMP?

Absolutely not!  We feel that you can walk though our facility anytime we are open during the 2 timeslots a day. We do prefer tours Monday - Friday, because the weekend is busy and we would like to be able to spend the time talking and showing you Camp.

CAN MY DOG COME ON THE TOUR?

No!  We do not have your pets vaccination records for them to enter our facility as a brand new customer.  A Camp Counselor will walk your pet out front or your pet can sit in the car while you are on the tour.

We have found that your pet is expecting you at Camp if you tour with them.  We say all goodbyes up front at drop off.

I AM STAYING CLOSE BY CAMP FOR VACATION, CAN I COME AND PICK UP MY PET FOR AN HOUR OR THE DAY?

We prefer you not too!  It will be easier on you but more difficult on the pet.  They will be getting in the swing of things at Camp and understanding the schedule and then it is disrupted.  They do not understand why you came and took them for a bit and then brought them back to Camp again.  The pet is very confused and this is a way that separation anxiety can occur.  So, we highly recommend that you watch your pet daily on Facebook and let them enjoy their time at Camp.

WHAT IF MY PET HAS SEPERATION ANXIETY?

No problem! We have rooms that are better for your pet with separation anxiety.  "The Dog Park" and "Themed Rooms" give a homelike atmosphere.  These rooms are extra large and feel like home.

Also, if your pet is crate trained at home or sleeps in a kennel please bring that kennel to Camp.  We will take the door off or prop the door open and put the kennel in their suite.  This will give them comfort and security while at Camp.

We highly recommend a hike, swim or one-on-one daily if your pet has separation anxiety.  This gives them individual time with a Camp Counselor and helps with the separation anxiety.

WHAT IF THE POWER GOES OUT AT CAMP?

Not an issue!  We got this covered.  We have standby generators that start in seconds automatically to put the power back on.  We are always running on electricity at Camp no matter what the weather.

IS CAMP HEATED AND AIR CONDITIONED?

Yes!  Camp has 3 furnaces and 3 air conditioners to keep Camp a cozy 72 degrees year round.  The Campers keep warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

WHAT SECURITY PRECAUTIONS DO YOU HAVE AT CAMP?

Many!  We have security systems for break-ins, fire, carbon dioxide and a back up generator for power outages.  Also, the facility has 8 continually running video cameras to keep on eye on things.  The cameras are recording 24 hours a day.

HOW DOES CAMP PREVENT AGAINST A DISEASE OUTBREAK?

We require vaccines for all pets that stay at Camp.  The bordetella (canine cough) vaccine is required 7 days before arrival for precautions.  We also sanitize and hand wash the suites daily.

Technology!  Camp has 3 buildings and we use the "IWave" in each building.  IWave works to safely clean the air inside the buildings. The patented technology uses positive and negative ions to address harmful IAQ issues such as pathogens, VOCs, odors, and particulate. The ions produced travel within the air stream into the occupied spaces, cleaning the air everywhere the ions travel, even in spaces unseen.

WHAT IF I MAKE MY RESERVATION AT CAMP BUT YOU ARE FULL?

You will be notified and then added to the waitlist automatically for the next available opening.  If your requested room is full we will book you in a available room and if your requested room opens up we will move your pet.

DO I NEED A CREDIT CARD TO BOOK MY RESERVATION?

Never!  When you drop your pet off at Camp that is your deposit.  Full payment will be made at pick up.

WHAT TYPE OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT AT CAMP?

We prefer cash or check for payment and will give you a 5% instant discount off your bill with cash or check payment. We accept credit cards from Visa, Mastercard, Discover or American Express.

IS THERE A CANCELLATION FEE IF I CANCEL MY RESERVATION?

Absolutely not!  Please just email or call us ASAP if you need to cancel and we will fill your spot with someone off our waitlist.

DO YOU TAKE ANY BREED OF DOG AT CAMP?

Of Couse!  We have no pet discrimination at Camp.  All breeds are welcome.

WHAT IF MY PET IS IN HEAT OR NOT FIXED?

No problem! Just let us know and we can make accommodations.  Your pet might be able to play with others if others are spayed or neutered.

CAN I GIVE MY PET THEIR OWN VACCINATIONS?

The rabies vaccine must be given by a veterinarian.  The bordetella and distemper can be administered yourself.  We will need 2 things: a picture of the receipt with the date and a picture of the empty vial. This picture must be emailed the day you give the vaccine to critters@btc-bci.com

ARE YOU CLOSED ANY DAYS OF THE YEAR FOR PET DROP OFF & PICK UP?

Yes, 5 days a year we have no drop off or pick up of pets.  New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. We are still working with the animals on these days but not working at the front desk.

WHAT IF MY PET GETS SICK OR HURT AT CAMP?

We are All-Inclusive so we take care of everything at Camp.  If your pet gets sick or hurt and a veterinarian needs to be used, we will take your pet.  You will be notified by a phone call of the incident and what actions were taken if we go to the veterinarian. This will be an extra charge due at time of pick up.

MY PET IS DIABETIC, BLIND, DEAF, HAS SEIZURES OR IS ON DAILY MEDICATION?

No problem! The staff is CPR & first aid trained.  We administer injections and pills all the time.  We just need you at drop off to tell us exactly what and how often you want medication administered.  We will do this per your instructions.

CAN BOTH OF MY PETS STAY IN THE SAME SUITE?

Of course!  Many family pets stay together in suites at Camp.  We will also feed them separate if needed.  If you request, we can also put family members in separate rooms by each other for community playtimes.

DO YOU HAVE A PICK UP OR DROP OFF SHUTTLE SERVICE?

Yes!  We run the shuttle Monday - Friday at 8:30am & 3:30pm.  Our shuttle locations are Oak Ridge Feed on Stadium Dr., Camp Fido on Stadium Dr. and Camp Fido Knoll on 8th St. in Kalamazoo.  When you book your reservation you can request the shuttle at that time. $20 one way or $30 round trip - per family.

ARE STAFF ON THE GROUNDS 24 HOURS A DAY?

Yes!  The Camp Team arrive at Camp daily at 7:00am and we lock up Camp by 10:00pm nightly.  The owners live on the premises 24 hours a day.
